New Season & Playdowns
by posted 12/05/2019

Hello Team,

Good efforts the poast couple of games, and a couple of ties against a couple of very evenly-matched teams.  As we have been working on in practice, we need to get better with our sticks and coverage in our own zone, as that is where we have been giving up chances that turn into goals against.  Offensively, I feel that the lines and defense pairings are working very well, as we have been getting plenty of great scoring chances, and our communication and passing has been getting better.

The South Shore Conference's initial schedule is done at this point; normally at this point they re-organize the divisions at each level, and wipe out the records in the standings.  We are staying in the Re division; it appears nearly all of our opponents have chosen to do the same this season (I believe one team moved up to Herman, and one team moved down to B) so we know what we are up against for the rest of the season.  We have our work cut out for us, but we are good enough to succeed at this level if we play to our capabilities and continue to improve.

Canton is our first playdown opponent; as home team they supply the ice for our Playdown Game, which will be during the week.

They have proposed a date/time of Wednesday, December 11th, at 7:00 pm at Canton Ice House.  Can everyone make it to that game?  Please respond and let me know ASAP.

For those new to playdowns, it is Norwood Nuggets tradition that players and coaches wear a shirt and tie when "traveling" to playdown games.  Also makes for a great photo opp.

Hoping to get a schedule for the Jingle Bell Tournament soon; I will let you know as soon as I do.

See you at the rink!
