With five successful seasons under our belt, we are excited to offer another season of our cross-ice Mite program.  This program is for children born in 2011 & 2012.  Mite players should be comfortable and confident skaters and have completed an Instructional Hockey program.

The Mite Hockey program will be starting up on Saturday, October 26, 2019. Practices will be held on Saturday afternoons and on one weeknight. Games will be on Sunday mornings. For your convenience, the schedule for the season has been set and can be viewed by clicking here. (Mite Hockey Schedule)

Practices will follow the American Developmental Model (ADM) www.admkids.com where the children will be moving from station to station in order to work on skating skills, hockey skills, and small area games.

Games will be 3 vs. 3 cross-ice hockey using intermediate-sized nets with goalies. Players will rotate playing goalie on a week to week basis. Our hockey games are scaled down to the size of our participants to allow more action for developing players. Cross-ice play allows all players to be near the action and provides players more ice time and more puck possession.

Mite hockey players will be divided into evenly matched teams. We participate in the Town Line League (TLL), playing against teams from Allston-Brighton, Dedham, Hyde Park, Needham, Parkway, Wellesley and Westwood.

The following equipment is required:

  • Skates
  • Hockey helmet with full faceguard
  • Hockey gloves
  • Shin pads
  • Protective cup
  • Socks
  • Hockey pants
  • Elbow pads
  • Shoulder pads
  • Hockey stick

A team jersey will be provided.

Volunteers both on and off the ice are needed.  All coaches and on-ice volunteers must formally register as coaches with NYH and www.usahockey.com before stepping on the ice and will need to complete a background check.

The cost of the Mite Hockey program is only $625.  (Click here to register)
